Welcome!

This Web site provides information and resources developed under the auspices of the State-level Health Information Exchange Consensus Project (Project). The Project began in 2006 under a contract from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC).

  • In states across the country, leaders from health care, business, communities, and government efforts are collaborating to foster transformation in our health care system. A major target of these efforts is ensuring that effective health information is available when and where it is needed to improve individual and population health, and the quality, safety and cost-effectiveness of health care services.
  • Organized state-level health information exchange (HIE) initiatives, involving diverse private sector and government participation, have formed to guide statewide and regional HIE development and ensure that it serve the broad public’s interests.
  • This Project targets the emerging characteristics and key roles for these emerging state-level HIE entities in advancing interoperability and transforming health care.

Through the Web site, you have access to the Project’s research findings, reports, and emerging resources, as well as links to information about the various state-level HIE efforts. We appreciate your feedback and inquiries!
